Guy Savoy moving into the Monnaie de Paris

The Monnaie de Paris, historically the French mint, situated in its fine building, masterwork of the architect Jacques Denis Antoine, who beat Étienne-Louis Boullée in a competition in 1765 to design it.
It used to house the coin museum, now its future is a bit less blingy, as the structure is to undergo a new "opening" towards the public. Part of this reorganization of the interiors is the bold decision to move the famous restaurant of Guy Savoy into the building. The project is presenting on one hand a high-end restaurant, and on the lower level a more informal place, already called "Café Métal". The architectural conception of the restaurant projects will be under direction of Jea-Michel Wilmotte.
On the other hand, the reconversion project is also supposed to turn parts of the classified historic edifice into "high-end retail boutiques"... and we'll all be eager to see how those will turn out.
More details and the official date of the Savoy project will be revealed during this summer. Affaire à suivre.
