Graveyard of Unused Castle Fragments

275
What may at first look to you like a dump for old stones is actually the treasure trove of Fontainebleau; the secret depository of the castle's architectural fragments, that became obsolete during recent restauration campaigns and modification events. A replaced column there, a resculpted ballustrade fragment here, it all ends up on this lush green field.

Here we have authentic floor tiles...

...and these pieces polished up would reveal to you white marble fireplaces.

Or this interesting piece on the lower right, that actually is a fragment of Fontainebleau's iconic grand staircase.

What to do with so much historic stone stuff? Sell it off to the tourists? or wait a couple more hundred years and you'll be able to rebuild a second Fontainebleau. Not really then a 'replica', since it would be built with the original fragments of the real castle. An authentic twin in the making.

I am Cedric, discoverer of things that would go unnoticed in the streets of Paris, historic haven of fashionistas and city of lights ('lights' as in 'enlightenment', not street lights).
But seriously: I'm an expat from Luxembourg (the country, not the garden), living in the center of Paris (hence 'Paris 2nd arrondissement'), and currenlty studying architectural history...
