Can you let me know what is up with the machine gun armed soldier walking alone through the streets of Paris. That is new since I last visited gay Paree! If it a terrorisms related security measure you would think they would patrol in pairs.
Dear Traveling Mother :)
These soldiers have been walking around Paris monuments for years now, at least since 2000. They tour each spot of Paris that has high tourist circulation, such as the Eiffel tower, the Louvre and the Champs Elysees, but also other places I'm sure.
The terror alert level is always set on orange or so. Sometimes it rises to red, for seasonal holidays. I always notice that when the police station next door has a guy with a machine gun guarind the front entrance.
oh also if you look closey his comrades walk a bit in the distance, since they always patrol in groups of 3 or 4
