Augusta Treverorum

It is also one of the few cities in Europe that have been capitals of the Roman Empire. Nowadays it is quite the shopping destination for cheap goods, especially for people from Luxembourg. Shopping around here can be quite the adventure, and the locals usually stare at you for wearing fashion created after the 90s (yes, the standardized blue jeans in its baggy format still is a best buy among the 'raver' culture apparently), but that is another story. Fact is that we already left the German ground after only a few hours of presence there.
Here are a few architectural snaps from a brief excursion into the land where fashion somewhat moves, but not quite in the areas furthest away from big capitals...
The rococoesque facade of the Palais of Trier
The Trierer Dom is a Roman Catholic church which dates back to Roman times and is home to the Holy Tunic, a garment with a recorded history back to the 12th century, in Catholic tradition said to be the robe Jesus was wearing when he died. It is only exhibited every few decades, at irregular intervals. This may explain why the fashion sense in this city is a slight bit retro...
