Haute Couture: Off the List / On the List

With fashion shows getting ready once again for the ready-to-wear season (Spring/Summer 2008) which will start on the 30th September next month, the Paris fashion industry is boosting up work already.
Essentially I can*t wait for next season of haute couture which will only start in January 2007. So there is still time to wait and be patient.
Haute couture is a "protected name" that can be used only by firms that meet certain well-defined standards such as:
- Design made-to-order for private clients, with one or more fittings.
- Have an atelier in Paris that employs at least 15 people full-time.
- Each season, present a collection to the Paris press, comprising at least 35 runs with outfits for both daytime wear and evening wear.
There are many fashion houses who were once official haute couture members:
Atelier Versace Balenciaga (drama! no more since 1968 when Cristobal retired)
Elsa Schiaparelli (no more since 1954)
Guy Laroche
Jean Patou
Lanvin
Loris Azzaro
Marcel Rochas
Nina Ricci
Paco Rabanne
Pierre Cardin
Torrente (Julien Fournie being the house's last couturier until 2004, such a shame!)
Yves Saint Laurent
Atelier Versace (for economic reasons)
For 2007, there are merely 10 official haute couture member houses left:
Adeline André
Chanel
Christian Dior
Christian Lacroix
Dominique Sirop
Emanuel Ungaro
Franck Sorbier
Givenchy
Jean Paul Gaultier
Jean-Louis Scherrer
And of course there are still the 3 correspondent (foreign) member houses:
Elie Saab
Giorgio Armani
Valentino
(Don*t forget a haute couture robe is sometimes negotiated at 100000 Euros next time you shop at Rue Cambon...)
